Upper Iowa Head Volleyball Coach Shari Robertson announced that Kristy Hinrichs, from Swisher, Iowa, and Danielle Coppin, from Sutter, Calif., have signed the National Letter of Intent to continue their academic and volleyball careers at Upper Iowa University. Kristy Hinrichs, a 5'10" Outside Hitter, led Solon High School to a 28-5 record this past season. She averaged 4.9 kills per game which ranks her #1 in the state for Class 2A. Kristy was selected all conference, all district, and honorable mention all state her junior year, and made 2nd team all state her senior year. She was also selected to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Senior All-Star Classic. "I knew right away that I wanted Kristy to be a part of our program when I saw her play. She is strong and athletic and is someone who can impact our program right away. She brings a competitive spirit and will help take our volleyball program to the next level," said Coach Robertson. Kristy is the daughter of Lindsay and Angie Hinrichs and will major in Elementary Education. Danielle Coppin, a 5'7" Defensive Specialist and Outside Hitter, was a member of the Yuba College (Marysville, Calif.) volleyball team that finished 10-4 in conference. She was named athlete of the week once in 2006 and during her high school career, she was selected all league and 2nd team all area. Danielle also competed in the North vs. South Senior All-Star Game. "I am very excited to have Danielle join our program. She has a lot to offer with her junior college experience and with her enthusiasm for the game. I am expecting to see great things from her," said Robertson. Danielle is the daughter of Tina and Scott Coppin and will major in Bio-Chemistry. |
