The Daktronics Softball All-Region teams have been announced and two Peacocks have been named. Jena Kilburg (Bellevue, Iowa) and Nikki Davis (Lovington, Illinois) were named to the All-Region (Central) Second Team.
Kilburg earned the honor as an outfielder finishing the season with a .372 average. The Peacocks’ senior right fielder registered 58 hits in 156 at bats including 13 doubles, 4 triples, and 2 homeruns. Kilburg scored 30 runs while driving in 30. Kilburg finishes her softball career after playing in and starting every game as a Peacock (184). Her career average is .356 (219-616). The Bellevue native drove in 78 runs, scored 122 runs, and stole 61 of 70 bases for the Peacocks. Davis earned first team honors as a designated player finishing the season as the Peacock batting average leader at .383. The junior tallied 36 hits in 94 at bats including 12 doubles, a triple, and a homerun. Davis scored 11 runs while driving in 24. Davis also threw 102.2 innings for UIU registering a 6-13 record with a 4.43 ERA. She appeared in 23 games while making 19 starts on the rubber and striking out 56 batters. The Peacocks finished the season with a 19-32 record overall and a 10-8 mark, tied for 4th, in their inaugural season in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The team qualified for the NSIC Tournament as the #4 seed and finished the tournament 1-2 after they were eliminated by runner-up Winona State. The Peacocks were the only conference team to defeat the regular season and tournament champion Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State. |
