The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference has announced its postseason awards for softball and Peacock third baseman, Kami Appelt, has been named to the All-NSIC Second Team. Appelt started all 44 games for the Peacocks this season at third base and batted .308, second on the team to Casey Coon.

Appelt lead the team with five home runs while driving in a team-high 30 runners. She also recorded eight doubles and a triple. This is the third time in as many years that Appelt has earned postseason All-Conference recognition. In 2007 and 2008 Appelt was named to the All-NSIC Honorable Mention team for her play in the field and at the plate.

With a 13-13 mark in the NSIC, Appelt and the Peacocks qualified for the 2009 NSIC Softball Tournament this weekend. The eighth-seeded Peacocks will play top-seeded Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minnesota at noon on Friday, May 1.
