2007 Daktronics All-Central Region Women's Soccer Teams
The Daktronics All-Region women's soccer teams have been announced and Lauren Smith (Sr., Flint, Mich.) has been named to the second team. Smith played in all 21 games for Upper Iowa and dished out 4 assists while scoring 9 goals, two of which were game winners. The senior finished tied for 5th in points and 7th in goals in the NSIC. The Flint-native was named as the NSIC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week once this season. Smith recorded two goals and an assist versus Missouri Western on Aug. 23 and two goals versus Southwest Minnesota State on Oct. 13. "Lauren did a fantastic job on the right flank for us this season. Her speed and technical creativity created a lot of opportunities for us throughout the year. Lauren was second on the team in goals this year with nine and many of those were game winners. Lauren always seemed to come up with the "big one" when we needed it most. Her wonderful personality and positive spirit will be greatly missed next year," said Head Coach Brian Bahl. The UIU Women's Soccer team qualified for postseason play for the second season in a row. The team made the NSIC tournament as the #3 seed this year after posting a 12-8-1 record overall and a 6-2-1 record in the NSIC. Last season, the team qualified as the #8 seed in the NSIC Tournament. |
