The Peacock Women’s Soccer Team was on the road at Concordia University and Minnesota State-Moorhead this weekend. The Peacocks dropped their match verse Concordia 2-1 on Saturday and their match verse Moorhead 1-0 on Sunday. After the weekend, Upper Iowa’s overall record fell to 5-7-2 and their NSIC record fell to 2-3-1.
On Saturday the Peacocks were led on offense by Jennifer Burnett and Jennifer Lee. Burnett scored the lone UIU goal in the 56th minute. The goal was assisted by Lee, who served the ball to Burnett on a corner kick. The goal tied the game at 1-1, but Concordia scored a second goal ten minutes later and took the victory. Sarah Hiatt made two saves in four chances in goal. Upper Iowa out shot Concordia 14-7. They also earned a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks. On Sunday Upper Iowa was led on offense by Amy Campbell, Jodee Loterbauer, and Lee. The Peacocks were shutout, but Campbell fired 5 shots (1 on goal), while Loterbauer added 3 shots (2 on goal) and Lee took 2 shots (both on goal). Sarah Hiatt made seven saves in eight chances while in the net for the Peacocks. Moorhead scored the only goal of the match in the 33rd minute. Upper Iowa will take the field again on Wednesday, the 11th, verse William Penn University in Fayette at 4 p.m. |
