Complete Release

Melissa Heitzman, a sophomore from Ames, Iowa, has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women's Soccer Defender of the Week. This honor is the sixth NSIC Player of the Week award earned by an Upper Iowa student-athlete this year and third this season by an Upper Iowa women's soccer player. The honor is Heitzman's second of the season.

Heitzman spent 200:00 minutes in the Peacock net this past weekend and allowed one goal to Northern State while making 19 saves as Upper Iowa went 1-0-1 this week tying Northern State and defeating last year conference tournament champs, University of Mary 2-0. The shutout against Mary was her third of the season.

The Peacocks host the Warriors of Winona State University in an NSIC match on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 1:00 p.m. Winona State was the pre-season favorite to win the Northern Sun.
