The Upper Iowa women's soccer team returned to the field on Wednesday, a week after their last contest and the rest did the team well. The Peacocks dominated the match with the Warriors of Waldorf College on Pattison Field. The Peacocks scored four goals in the first half and added three more in the second to run away from their guests. With the win, Upper Iowa improves to 3-3-1 on the season.

Emily Gielau put the Peacocks on the board first in the 10th minute on a long, 30-yard arcing shot that sailed over the Warrior keeper. The goal was unassisted. Cara Mauldin scored the second goal of the game in the 29th minute as she took a free kick from 20 yards away and found the bottom right corner of the goal. Gielau gave UIU a 3-0 lead in the 37th minute as she finished a corner kick by Lauren Verhulst with a header. Upper Iowa's fourth goal came when Jamie Krusie put a ball past the keeper on a give and go with Emma Vanderheyden.

The Peacocks came out of halftime and marked the scoreboard again as Valeria Ptasinski finished a 15-yard strike past the Warrior goalie. Alison Clark registered an assist on the goal. Senior captain Amy Campbell finally broke through for her first goal of the season in the 68th minute. Campbell pushed the ball over the goal line after assists by Shaina Marnell and Gielau. Defender Christine Dwyer made her first appearance of the season for the Peacocks and scored a goal in the 77th minute to give the home team a 7-0 lead. Shaina Marnell earned her second assist of the match on the goal.

Melissa Heitzman logged 90 minutes in the Peacock net stopping five Warrior shots in the match to earn the shutout victory.

The Peacocks will be back on the pitch in Fayette for their Northern Sun Conference openers this Saturday and Sunday. Upper Iowa will host the Dragons of MSU Moorhead on Saturday and the Golden Eagles of Minnesota, Crookston on Sunday. Both matches will are slated to begin at 1 p.m.
