The Upper Iowa Women's Soccer team opened its 2009 home schedule this afternoon as Colorado School of Mines visited Pattison Field in Fayette for the opening match of the Peacock Soccer Classic. The Peacocks fell behind early and dropped their home opener to the Orediggers, 2-0.

Mines scored in the 9th minute, and added insurance goal off of a penalty kick in the 58th minute. Peacock goalkeeper Melissa Heitzman stopped 7 shots in the match.

The Peacocks return to Pattison Field next on Sunday for the conclusion of the Peacock Classic as they host Missouri S&T University. The Peacocks and Miners are scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
