The Peacock golf teams completed a perfect day in Peacock athletics yesterday. After the men's and women's soccer teams both defeated Mt. Mercy 4-0 and the volleyball team swept Wartburg 3-0, the Peacock golf teams each captured their respective titles in the Coulee Region College Invite hosted by Winona State University. The tournament was played at Cedar Creek Golf Course in Onalaska, Wisconsin.

The men's team was on the course in their opening competition of the year, while the women's team was playing for the third consecutive day.

The men's team shot a 305 on the day; three strokes ahead of Viterbo (309) and nine strokes ahead of Winona State (314). St. Mary's rounded out the field with a 334.

Adam Winans led the men's team and finished fourth overall with a 75. Matt Dahlke tied for fifth just one stroke back with a 76. Josh Wells and Bryan Peck both shot 77's and tied for seventh, while Jon Anderson made his collegiate debut for the Peacocks carding an 80 and tying for thirteenth.

Three men played as individuals on the day including Tyler Pederson (87), Tucker Bayler (88), and newcomer Curtis Gibbs (103).

The women's team turned in a 323 for their round, which was 28 strokes better than second place Winona State (351). Viterbo placed third (378) and St. Mary's was fourth (395).

Rachael Schmidt won her first medalist honor of the year as the only female on the course to shoot below 80. Schmidt finished with a 77; three strokes better than teammate and runner up, Jill Preeshl (80). Rochelle Schmidt made sure that the Peacocks would claim the top three individual spots as she carded an 82. Freshman McKenzie Holthaus finished fifth on the day with an 84 and Laura Taylor tied for ninth with a 90.

Three women played as individuals including Jessica Lang (92), Kelly Rowe (93), and Glenna Meyer (95).

The men's and women's team will return to action beginning this Sunday. The men will travel west to Augustana College for a two-day tournament on Sunday and Monday, Sept. 7 and 8. The women will journey south to Drury University for a two-day tournament on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 8 and 9.
