The Peacock women's golf team finished their second and final round in the Concordia University Fall Invitational on Monday. The Peacocks were one of eleven teams competing in the tournament hosted by Concordia. The tournament was played at Tartan Park Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn. Upper Iowa fired a 341 on day one and finished the first round in 6th place, eleven strokes behind the host school and leader Concordia (330). The Peacocks shot the low round of the day on Monday as they turned in a 319, a 22-stroke improvement on day one. The good round jumped the team from 6th to 3rd in the final standings. Concordia University, St. Paul took the team title with a 651 (330-321). Rachael Schmidt led the Peacocks and finished at the top of the leaderboard for the two-day tournament. The senior finished the tourney with a 153 (79-74) to earn her second medalist honor in as many tournaments. Rochelle Schmidt improved her first round 85 by five strokes on day two to finish with a 165 and tie for 9th place. Freshman McKenzie Holthaus (167) also shot an 80 in the second round bouncing back from an 89 on day one. Jill Preeshl turned in a 177 (92-85) and Laura Taylor finished with 185 (88-97). The Peacock women's golf team will be back on the course next Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20-21, in Marshall, Minn. playing in a tournament hosted by Southwest Minnesota State University. |
