Drury Fall Shootout Final Results and Stats
The Peacock women's golf team completed their final round in the Drury Fall Shootout on Tuesday. The Peacocks were one of twenty teams competing in the tournament hosted by Drury University. The tournament was played Murder Rock Golf & Country Club in Springfield, Missouri. The Peacocks carded a 307 for their second round and posted a two-day total of 625. Upper Iowa finished ten strokes behind #14 California University (PA), who won the tournament with a 615. Going into the round today, UIU was in fourth place; three strokes behind a logjam tie for first at 315. California, Drury, and Nebraska-Omaha were all tied heading into the final round. The Peacocks, currently ranked #16 in the nation, finished ahead of #15 Nebraska-Omaha (633), #13 St. Edwards (635), and #19 Drury (645). Rachael Schmidt finished the two-day tournament in fourth place after rebounding nicely from her first round 80 with a second round 71. The medalist for the tournament was Erin Ommen, of Nebraska-Omaha, who shot a 146, five strokes ahead of Schmidt. Rachael was tied for fifth in par 3 scoring (3.30, +3) and second in par 5 scoring (4.60, -4). The senior tied for the most birdies with 7. Rochelle Schmidt improved by four strokes over her first day 78 with a second day 74 to finish in a tie for 5th place, six strokes behind the tournament's medalist. The Elk River, Minnesota native tied for fifth in par 3 scoring (3.30, +3), tied for tenth in par 4 scoring (4.44, +7), and tied for third in par 5 scoring (4.80, -2). Schmidt tied for the sixth most pars with 20 in 36 holes. Jill Preeshl tied for 14th place with a 78 on day one and an 80 on day two. Preeshl was one of six golfers on the course to eagle a hole. The sophomore finished fifth in par 5 scoring (5.00, E) and tied for the second most pars in two rounds with 22. McKenzie Holthaus tied for 34th with an 82 on day one and an 83 on day two. Holthaus was also just one of six golfers to record an eagle in the tournament. Laura Taylor bounced back in her second round with an 82 after an uncharacteristic 95 in round one. The junior tied for 61st, but the 82 on day two helped Upper Iowa lock down the runner up position. Taylor finished with 5 birdies, which tied for the fifth most in the tournament. Upper Iowa was fourth in par 3 scoring with a 3.56 average, tied for third in par 4 scoring with a 4.63 average, and first in par 5 scoring with a 5.10 average. The Peacocks carded the most eagles (2), the second most birdies (18), and tied for the fourth most pars (84). Upper Iowa is back on the course this coming Sunday and Monday, Sept. 14-15, in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Peacocks will play in a two-day tournament hosted by the Golden Bears of Concordia University, St. Paul. ![]() |
