North Region Invite Day One Results
The Upper Iowa women's golf team played the first round of their final regular season competition on Saturday in Spencer, Iowa. The Peacocks came away with the day one lead by ten strokes. Upper Iowa put together a 328 on the first day, ten strokes better than second place Nebraska-Omaha and fifteen strokes ahead of Minnesota State, Mankato and Truman State. Rachael Schmidt leads the field by four strokes after carding a 77 (40-37); she was also the only golfer on the course to turn in a score below 80. Jill Preeshl turned in an 81 (41-40) and is tied for second. Rochelle Schmidt finished just a stroke behind with an 82 (40-42), while Laura Taylor and Glenna Meyer rounded out the Peacock scoring with an 88 and a 92, respectively. Upper Iowa also had three individuals playing in the tournament. Lindsey Holien turned in a 95 (46-49), Jessica Lang shot a 106 (52-54), and Kelly Rowe finished with a 108 (56-52). Upper Iowa will close out their regular season today, Apr. 27. The Peacocks will try to hold off the field of ten teams and win their final competition of the regular season at the North Region Invite hosted by Nebraska-Omaha. |
