The Upper Iowa women's golf team traveled to Cedar Creek Country Club in Onalaska, Wisconsin to compete in a triangular with Winona State, and Viterbo. The Peacocks won the tournament with a 325, twenty-three strokes in front of runner-up Winona State. Laura Taylor led the way winning the tournament with a 74 and earning medalist honors. Rachael and Rochelle Schmidt followed Taylor with a pair of 83's to finish tied for second. Jill Preeshl finished fifth with an 85, while Lindsey Holien closed the Peacock scoring with a 93. Glenna Meyer played as an individual and carded an 88 to finish tied for eighth place. Upper Iowa will next play in the spring portion of the 2007-08 NSIC Women's Golf Championship. The tournament, originally scheduled for this coming weekend, will take place next Thursday and Friday, April 17-18, at Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton, S.D. After the first 36 holes played last fall in Becker, Minn. Upper Iowa holds a 36 stroke lead over Concordia-St. Paul after the Peacocks turned in a 625. Schmidt leads after two rounds with scores of 77 and 71 (148) to hold a six stroke lead over Winona State's Megan Placko (76-78=154). |
