The women's golf team of Upper Iowa traveled to Bolivar, Missouri this past weekend for a pair of one-day tournaments. The Peacocks defeated two other schools on Saturday to win the triangular by 15 strokes. On Sunday, UIU got back out on the course and continued their good play defeating three teams in a quadrangular by 9 strokes. Triangular Team Scores: Upper Iowa was fueled by a pair of 83's from Rochelle and Rachael Schmidt as the twins shared medalist honors in the Peacocks first tournament of the year. Laura Taylor finished in a three-way tie behind the Schmidts with an 86. Jill Preeshl shot a 92, while Lindsey Holien came in with a 103. Quadrangular Team Scores: The Peacocks took Sunday's tournament thanks to strong play from Rochelle Schmidt. She was the lone golfer to score in the 70's with a 74. The next closest score from the field was an 80. Rachael Schmidt came in with an 81, while Taylor and Preeshl turned in an 89 and 90, respectively. Holien finished the day with a 101. The women's golf team will host the Peacock Spring Classic this weekend in Amana, Iowa at the Amana Colonies Golf Course. The tournament boasts a field of eleven Division II teams. Saturday's round will begin with tee times at 10:00 a.m. and Sunday's round will be a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. |
