         <description><![CDATA[St. Paul, Minn. - Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Commissioner Butch Raymond has announced the results from the NSIC Board of Directors teleconference call dealing with expansion. The Board of Directors, consisting of the ten NSIC Presidents/Chancellors, voted to expand the NSIC to 14 teams with the addition of Augustana College (Sioux Falls, S.D.), the University of Minnesota Duluth (Duluth, Minn.), Minnesota State University Mankato (Mankato, Minn.) and Saint Cloud State University (Saint Cloud, Minn.). These four institutions, which were all voted on individually, will begin participating within the NSIC in the 2008-09 season.]]></description>

The Peacocks ranked 6th this year, only five points away from 4th place U-Mary and four and a half points away from 5th place MSU Moorhead. Upper Iowa's success is due, in large part, to its three NSIC Championships in Wrestling, Women's Tennis, and Women's Golf. But 6th place could not have been attained without Baseball (2nd), Women's Soccer (3rd), and Men's Golf (3rd), who all had very successful seasons as well.]]></description>

Upper Iowa played well in the first half shooting 46% on their way to a 25-21 lead at the break. The Beaver offense picked up over the final twenty minutes as the home team canned five three-pointers as they rallied to outscore the Peacocks by thirteen in the second half. In the end, Bemidji State ended Upper Iowa's season by the score of 60-51. The Peacocks finished the season with a 7-23 record overall and a 3-15 record in the Northern Sun.]]></description>

The Peacocks took the floor looking to move out of a tie at the bottom of the conference with the Golden Eagles of Minnesota, Crookston. The Peacocks played well on the defensive end of the floor in the first half holding the Wildcats to just 22 points, but UIU could not get their own offense going as they went to halftime trailing 22-20. Wayne State found some answers for their offense at halftime and outscored the Peacocks 35-24 in the second half to come away with a 57-44 win. With the win, Wayne State moves to 17-7 on the year and 10-5 in the NSIC, while Upper Iowa falls to 6-20 on the year and 2-12 in the NSIC.]]></description>
