NCAA North Region Rankings The Northern Sun Conference and NCAA North Regional wrestling coaches have released the latest rankings for the 2007-08 season. Upper Iowa has been named as the current #1 team in the NSIC and tied for the #1 spot in the North Region with Minnesota State University, Mankato. The Peacocks received 79 points in the NSIC Coaches Poll to claim first place. Minnesota State Moorhead (58), Northern State (45), Southwest Minnesota State (33), and U-Mary (15) follow Upper Iowa in the latest ranking released today. Upper Iowa's wrestlers are ranked third or higher in every weight class. Six Peacock wrestlers are ranked at the top of their weight classes including Tyler Mumbulo (125), Jacob Pedersen (133), Tee Adams (149), Travis Eggers (157), Mitch Norton (165), and Dan Goodson (HWT). Brady Hakeman is ranked second at 174, while Steven Baker (141), Tony Gehling (184), and Matt Norton (197) are all ranked third. Upper Iowa and Minnesota State University, Mankato both received 55 points to tie for first in the NCAA North Region. Nebraska Omaha (46), Minnesota State Moorhead (33), St. Cloud State (17), Augustana (8), Southwest Minnesota State (8), Northern State (4), and U-Mary (4) follow the Peacocks and Mavericks in the latest rankings. The Peacocks boast a wrestler in seven of the ten weight classes in the regional rankings. Three UIU grapplers are ranked #1 in their weight class including Tyler Mumbulo (125), Jacob Pedersen (133), and Tee Adams (149). Three Peacocks are ranked second at their weights including Travis Eggers (157), Mitch Norton (165), and Dan Goodson (HWT). The final Peacock in the regional rankings is Brady Hakeman, who took the #3 spot at 174. The Peacock wrestling team will travel to the Jim Fox Open in Dubuque, Iowa on Saturday, Dec. 8. The tournament will begin at 9:30 a.m. and go all day. |
