The Upper Iowa Men’s Soccer Team hosted Dakota Wesleyan University in their final match of the season on Saturday afternoon. The Peacocks won the game 3-2 and improved their record to 4-13-1.

The Peacocks took an early lead in the match when Casey Holm drove a Jacob Rasbeck pass into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute. The teams went to halftime without any other scores in a quiet first half. In the 50th minute Jacob Rasbeck received two yellow cards and was forced to leave the game. The Peacocks played a man down for the rest of the half. The match remained 1-0 until Carlos Perez-Villa scored a goal in the 75th minute. The goal was assisted by Israel Blatchford.

Dakota Wesleyan tied the game on back-to-back goals in the 84th minute. Upper Iowa won thanks to Casey Holm’s second goal of the match on a cross by Jeremy Jacobson. Holm’s header crossed the goal line with 46 seconds left in the game. Tyler Watkins made 5 saves in goal for the Peacocks.

The Peacocks are already looking forward to next season. There are no seniors in the program and the guys want to build on the season ending back-to-back wins. The team improved greatly from last season and with another strong off season, the program could be a tough match up for anyone in the region.
