The Upper Iowa Men’s Soccer Team traveled to Clinton, Iowa for a match on Saturday afternoon and defeated the Saints of Ashford University 4-0.
The Peacocks took an early lead in the match as Carlos Perez-Villa drove a Jacob Rasbeck pass into the back of the net to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage in the 5th minute. Upper Iowa added to their lead in the 22nd minute when Rasbeck put the ball in the back of the net. The goal was assisted by Chris Pacheco. The Peacocks came out of halftime fired up and built on their lead. UIU scored two goals within the first four minutes of the second half. Josh Sabin scored a goal off a Rasbeck assist and Casey Holm scored the fourth and final Peacock goal on a pass from Pacheco. Tyler Watkins recorded the shutout in goal for Upper Iowa making 4 saves on the afternoon. The Peacocks took 22 shots and earned 7 corner kicks, while the Saints took only 10 shots and earned 6 corners. The Peacocks record improved to 3-13-1 on the season. The Peacocks return home to Pattison Field this Saturday (10/28) to face Dakota Wesleyan at 2 p.m. in their final game of the season. |
