The Upper Iowa Men’s Soccer Team traveled to York College (NE) for a match on Saturday afternoon. York defeated the Peacocks 2-1 in overtime.
The Peacocks spent the first 45 minutes playing defense and holding off the York attack. At the end of the first half, Upper Iowa only managed 2 shots, while York fired 9. Tyler Watkins made 4 saves in goal for the Peacocks and both teams went to the locker rooms at half tied at 0-0. In the second half, Upper Iowa became much more aggressive offensively. Upper Iowa outshot York 7-5 in the second 45 minutes. York found the back of the net first in the 53rd minute on a goal by Joey Leinen; assist by Deyan Mihaylov. UIU tied the game four minutes later in the 57th minute on an unassisted goal by Chris Pacheco. The game remained tied as the horn sounded the end of regulation. Eight minutes into overtime, York scored the game winner on an unassisted shot by Nathan Anderson. The Peacocks record dropped to 2-10-1 on the season. The Peacocks remain on the road tomorrow (10/15, Sunday) as they face off against Concordia College-Moorhead (MN) at 1 p.m. |
