The Peacocks’ Men’s Soccer Team played at the University of Mary and lost a hard fought, physical game. Upper Iowa was leading the match 1-0 when Jacob Rasbeck received his second yellow card of the match and was forced to leave the field in the 60th minute. The Peacocks played a man down for the last 30 minutes. The outmanned Upper Iowa team gave up a penalty kick goal in the 70th minute and the game-winning goal in the 86th minute to lose 2-1.

“Tyler Watkins was good in goal again. We controlled the midfield all game long and we got great scoring chances all game long,” said Coach Chad Leonard.

The lone goal for Upper Iowa came in the 33rd minute on a finish by Chris Pacheco, assisted by Jacob Rasbeck. Tyler Watkins made 2 saves in goal for the Peacocks.

Coach Leonard added after the game, “We are a much better soccer team than we were last year. The record may not show it, but we have been in almost every game. We have made small mistakes that our opponents have taken advantage of. We will use the next two weeks to get healthy and make some adjustments, and then we will look to use our field and fans to help us turn the corner and pick up some wins in October.”

The Peacocks will return to the soccer field on the 2nd of October in their home opener against Viterbo University at 2 p.m.
