Thanks to their play in the Express Suites Riverport Inn Tournament hosted by Winona State, the Peacocks have swept this week's men's and women's NSIC Golfer of the Week Awards. Rachael Schmidt, a junior from Elk River, Minnesota, and Adam Winans, a junior from Lagrange, Indiana. The honors are the seventh and eighth NSIC Player of the Week awards earned by Upper Iowa student-athletes this year and third and fourth this season by Upper Iowa golfers. The honor is Schmidt's third in a row this season.

Schmidt shot back to back rounds of 75 to finish with an eight over 150 to earn medalist honors at the Express Suites Riverport Inn Invite held at the Cedar Valley Golf Course in Winona, Minn. Schmidt, who has taken home medalist honors four times this season, finished one stroke ahead of Rachel Roberg of Gustavus Adolphus and four stroke ahead of her sister Rochelle, the next highest NSIC finisher.

Winans earned medalist honors as he turned in a 137 (-3 / 69-68) for his 36 holes at the Express Suites Riverport Inn Classic. Winans led the field on both days and finished two strokes ahead of the runner-up. The two-round total set a new individual record for Upper Iowa. The previous two round low was 144; set by current junior Josh Wells.

Both the men's and women's golf teams are competing in Becker, Minnesota this weekend, Oct. 6 and 7, in the NSIC Golf Championship. The men's championship is a 36-hole tournament, while the women's championship is a 72-hole championship with half played this weekend and half played in the spring.
