Sophomore Josh Wells has been the story of this year’s men’s golf team. His first round of the year, a 68 at The Oaks in Hayfield, MN, is a new record for the men’s program. He established a second record on the second day when he shot a 76, for a two-round even par total of 144. Josh finished tied for 5th.
Two days later the Peacocks traveled to Bemidji State and Josh fired a 69 in his first round and finished tied for 21st after finishing with a two-round total of 151. Sophomore Brian Peck had a solid 2-day total at Bemidji State shooting an 82-78, and Freshman Matt Ewalt shot a 169 at Bemidji which included a 79 in his first round. Coach Chad Markuson had the following thoughts about the team so far this season. “We are a young team comprised of 1 Senior, 1 Junior, 3 Sophomores, and 4 Freshmen, so we are looking forward to getting these early matches under our belts and developing experience quickly as the Northern Sun Conference Tournament approaches.” The Men’s Golf will be teeing it up this weekend, the 23rd through the 25th, at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND. |
