The Peacock men's golf team will start today's round in second place. Upper Iowa is competing in their second Northern Sun Conference Championship in Becker, Minnesota. The team finished in sixth place last year.

Upper Iowa trails Winona State (285) by 19 strokes, but has a three-stroke lead over Bemidji State (307) and a six-stroke lead over UM, Crookston (310).

Andy Thomas is currently in third place after shooting a 73 (37-36). Matt Dahlke is tied for sixth after turning in a 75 (36-39), while Adam Winans (39-39) and Josh Wells (36-42) both carded a 78. Tucker Bayler is the final Peacock in the championship and finished with an 84 (39-45).

Thomas and Dahlke each found the bottom of the cup for birdies three times, while Adam Winans is tied for the lead in pars after one day with 13.

Upper Iowa will complete the championship this afternoon in Becker.
