The men's golf team at Upper Iowa took fourth place in the six-team field of the Express Suites Riverport Inn Classic on September 30th and October 1st. The team shot a 291 on day one and a 298 on day two for 589, but finished twenty-four strokes off the lead due to an impressive 565 (+5) card turned in by St. Cloud State.

The team total of 291 turned in by the Peacocks on day one tied the program record for low score, but still ranks as the third best score versus par at +11. The record, set last week, is a 291 that was only +7.

Junior Adam Winans, who has been playing well of late, earned medalist honors as he turned in a 137 (-3/ 69-68) for his 36-holes. Winans led the field and finished two strokes ahead of the runner-up. The two round total sets a new individual record for Upper Iowa. The previous two round low was 144, which was registered by current junior Josh Wells.

Andy Thomas was the only other Peacock to crack the Top 20. Thomas turned in a 146 (73-73) to tie for 14th. Josh Wells carded a 149 (71-78, Matt Dohlke recorded a 157 (79-79), while Tyler Pederson came in with a 166 (80-86).

Six Peacocks played as individuals in the tournament, a few seeing their first college action. Tucker Bayler carded an impressive 151 (76-75), while Matt Ewalt shot a 158 (81-77). Bryan Peck shot a 162 (82-80), Nick Kuhle recorded a 171 (88-83), Troy Northop registered a 179 (91-88), and Kyle Resinger finished with a 180 (87-93).

The Peacocks will return to Minnesota this coming weekend, October 6th and 7th, as they compete in the Northern Sun Conference Tournament in Becker. The NSIC men's golf tournament is a 36-hole event that will culminate on Sunday with the crowning of a conference champion. Upper Iowa finished sixth in last year's tournament, and is looking to take a run at the title this year.
