Upper Iowa University has announced that twenty-five student-athletes have committed to the Peacock football team and will compete for the 2007-08 squad. The group of twenty-five includes four that started classes at Upper Iowa in January, nine that signed National Letters of Intent, one player that signed a scholarship agreement and eleven players that have signed acceptance letters and will walk-on. The recruiting class is split evenly between both sides of the ball. The offense is adding twelve new faces, while the defense will be adding thirteen fresh bodies.
The state-by-state breakdown shows six from Iowa, four from California, three from Arizona, two from Illinois, Texas, and Wisconsin, and one from Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, Oregon, and Utah. Upper Iowa is a member of NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. UIU is coming off its first season in the NSIC, finishing in a tie for 6th in the league (3-5) and compiling a 3-8 overall record. The Peacocks return four of their six NSIC All-Conference performers including honorable mention All-American Dwayne Croker for the 2007-08 campaign.
