Greg Stephen joined the Upper Iowa men's basketball staff for his first year in August 2007.

Coach Stephen was the Director of the Iowa Barnstormers basketball program from 2005-2007 before stepping down to accept the position at UIU. The Monticello, Iowa native has been involved in AAU basketball for almost 10 years, organizing and coaching the Iowa Mavericks and Iowa Timberwolves programs before joining the Barnstormers in 2005. Prior to coaching select teams, Greg was a middle school and high school coach for the Odebolt-Arthur and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn School Districts.

In addition to Coach Stephen's assistant coaching duties, he will be the strength and conditioning coach for the men's basketball program. He is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and holds certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid. Coach Stephen was the Director of the Mercy Acceleration Sports Performance Program for Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids for the last seven years.

Greg is a graduate of Monticello High School and Buena Vista University (2000) where he earned a degree in Exercise Science.
