The Peacocks got a solid start from Lucas Wilsing on the mound and held a 4-2 lead heading into the top of the seventh inning, but the UIU defense and bullpen couldn't hold the Wildcats down. WSC scored two runs in the seventh to tie the game and then six runs in the eighth to blow the game open. Wayne State took the game 10-4. With only one loss, Upper Iowa still would have one shot to reach the title game tomorrow and face Wayne State again in a rematch. The Peacocks matched up with the Mavericks of Minnesota State, the #2 seed whom UIU upset in the first game of the tournament. The Peacocks had an opportunity in the fourth with the bases loaded and just one out, but were unable to break the scoreless tie. The Mavericks did not miss on their opportunity as they hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth and then exploded for eight runs in the fifth to take a commanding 11-0 lead. UIU pushed a run across the board in the seventh and two more in the ninth, but it was not enough as Minnesota State pulled away to take the 12-3 victory.
