Marshall Rogne, a freshman from Cresco, Iowa, has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week. This honor is the twelfth NSIC Player of the Week award earned by an Upper Iowa student-athlete this year and third by a Peacock baseball player.
Rogne threw a complete game two-hit shutout versus Mankato (#2 Central Region). Rogne pitched 7 innings allowing no runs on two hits and striking out 5. He held the Mavericks to a .095 batting average as the Peacocks came away with the 1-0 win. The freshman pitcher’s season record is now 3-0 with a 3.38 ERA. He has thrown 23.1 innings allowing only seven earned runs while striking out 11 and holding opposing batters to a .225 average. The Peacocks are currently is fourth place (28-17, 17-8) in the NSIC a half game behind Southwest Minnesota State. UIU will wrap up its regular season this week with a non-conference game at the University of Iowa on Wednesday, May 2, at 6 p.m. and a pair of double headers at home against Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday and Sunday, May 5-6. The first pitch is set to be thrown at 1 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday. |
