Mike Powicki received his B.S. in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training from the University of Iowa. After his undergraduate education he became a certified and licensed athletic trainer. Powicki served as a graduate assistant in the Department of Heath, Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse while receiving his Masters of Science Degree in Sport Administration. Powicki assisted the Athletics Director at Viterbo University before he was hired as the Assistant Athletics Director for External Affairs at Upper Iowa University in 2004 and was promoted to Associate Athletics Director in 2007.

While at Upper Iowa Powicki developed the Peacock Club for donors, alumni, and former student-athletes, Chaired the committee that received the $30,000 Choices Grant from the NCAA for University-wide substance abuse education programs, increased participation in the Peacock Golf Classic--a major annual fund raiser--from 70 players to over 165, has dramatically increased athletics department annual sponsorhsip revenues, oversaw the successful "Road to Glory" capital campaign for updates to Dorman Gym and served as the tournament director for the 2008 NCAA Division II Championship Wrestling Tournament.

Powicki maintains his Athletic Training certification and licensure and also serves as adjunct faculty instructing courses in HPER Department at Upper Iowa. Mike and his wife, Liesel, live in Independence with their daughters Faith and Elle.
