11/6/09 - Women's VolleyballPeacocks Return to .500 with Win Over Marauders The Upper Iowa volleyball team opened their final home weekend of the season with a straight set victory over the Marauders of the University of Mary in Fayette on Friday night. The Peacocks are back to .500 with four matches to play and while that may be average to an outsider... UIU fans know that this team is in uncharted water. The Peacocks surpassed the record for wins in a season a month ago and haven't stopped yet. Upper Iowa know has a 15-15 record overall and a 6-10 mark in Northern Sun Conference matches. Just two years ago the team registered an 0-18 mark in conference play and that was before the conference expanded and became the premier NCAA Division II conference for volleyball. The NSIC boasts five of the top sixteen schools in the national rankings. (MORE)
11/6/09 - Women's VolleyballUpper Iowa to Defend Prochaska Court for Final Time in 2009 The Peacock volleyball team will compete in Dorman Gym for the final time this season on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6 and 7. Upper Iowa has posted 14 wins so far this season, three more than the old record of 11 in a season. The ladies will look to go one better as they attempt to become the first volleyball team at UIU to earn a winning record. Upper Iowa has five matches left on their schedule and have already beaten four of their five remaining opponents this season. The Peacocks will welcome the Marauders of the University of Mary on Friday at 7 p.m. and the Wolves of Northern State University on Saturday at 4 p.m. UIU defeated U-Mary 3-0 and Northern State 3-2 on the road earlier this season. 11/5/09 - Men's BasketballPeacocks Prepare for Exhibition Contest with Drake Following an exhibition contest with the University of Northern Iowa last Saturday afternoon, the Peacocks close the 2009-10 exhibition schedule Saturday, Nov. 7 when they visit the Drake Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa for a 7:05 p.m. matchup with the Drake University Bulldogs. The Bulldogs finished the 2008-09 season with a 17-16 record, which included a 7-11 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference. First-team All-MVC performer Josh Young returns to the Bulldog lineup for his senior campaign. Young averaged 15.4 points per contest last season and needs just 330 points to become the school's all-time leading scorer. The Peacocks enter the 2009-10 season off of a 5-22 mark overall which included a 4-16 record in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Upper Iowa dropped their first exhibition contest to the University of Northern Iowa, 67-39. Freshman Jake Hughes led the Peacocks in scoring against the Panthers. Hughes scored nine points in 24 minutes of action. (MORE)
